Brian Leining

Vice Chair Corporate Relations

Major: Mechanical Engineering

Brian Leining is a senior Mechanical Engineering major graduating in May 2020. Before joining the Energy Coalition executive board, he was active in various organizations including the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, where he facilitated the academic and professional development of underclassmen as an Excellence Mentor.

Although most of Brian’s family worked in the energy sector, his passion for the industry formed more recently. After completing a downstream co-op at Marathon Petroleum’s Galveston Bay Refinery, he then gained a broader view of the industry by interning upstream in BP’s Gulf of Mexico Wells division. His experiences introduced him to many challenges facing the industry and enabled him to better appreciate the impact that energy has had on his life.

Brian plans to spread awareness and interest of the industry with his fellow students to connect them with companies here in the Energy Capital of the World. Throughout his career, Brian will work to solve the dual energy challenge of supplying growing demand while decreasing our carbon footprint, and hopes to empower people globally with energy.
