Makpal Sariyeva

Makpal Sariyeva is a senior Petroleum Engineering student. She is the 2020-2021 Chair of Energy Coalition. She served as the President of the Society of Petroleum Engineers University of Houston Student Chapter during the 2019-2020 year. As the President of UH-SPE, she led the Executive board that has executed a total of 86 successful events and won 7 first time awards through the teamwork of 34 board leaders.
Ms. Sariyeva is an undergraduate research scholar, with a strong interest in the Energy Industry and a desire to contribute to developing solutions to its challenging problems. Her subject on analyzing the relationship between the child and parent wells in Texas won 5 awards within one semester, including the following wins:
• 1st in Society of Petroleum Engineers - Gulf Coast Section North America Region Student Paper Contest (SPC). This is the first time a University of Houston Undergraduate student will represent the Gulf Coast Region at the Society of Petroleum Engineers International SPC Championship at ATCE.
• 1st in Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts (SPWLA) International SPC where she represented the University of Houston Undergraduate Division at the International level for the first time.
In addition, she is on the Dean’s list for her academic performance and a recipient of the Provost Undergraduate Research Scholarship through the Honors College. This summer, she is interning with UH Energy focusing on Carbon Capture, Use & Storage project. She hopes to continue her personal and professional development while giving back to the community and impacting the growth of the University of Houston.
